Coca-Cola Canada approached our team with a bold packaging challenge: create shrink-labeled cans and bottles featuring four design variations for each format. The goal was to elevate shelf presence and test market interest with a limited-edition look – while overcoming production challenges like show-through and design consistency.
OUR APPROACH
To meet Coca-Cola’s visual and technical requirements, our team printed the shrink sleeves using block-out ink on HP Indigo presses to prevent the underlying can or bottle from showing through. Collaborating closely with HP, we also implemented their Mosaic technology, which allowed every shrink sleeve to feature a one-of-a-kind pattern – ensuring each unit looked distinct while staying true to brand guidelines.
This combination of premium digital printing and design variability brought a dynamic edge to the packaging, while maintaining production efficiency and quality.
THE IMPACT
Following successful initial testing, Collide produced over 20,000 custom shrink-sleeved bottles for a test shipment from Mexico to Canada. The project demonstrated both technical excellence and brand innovation, positioning Coca-Cola for expanded use of personalized packaging in future campaigns.
